Having failed to find suspects, authorities concluded their search early Thursday for a gunman who shot out the rear window of a police cruiser in a Burger King parking lot in Baldwin Park.
The officer behind the wheel of the cruiser was uninjured in the shooting, which occurred at 8:48 p.m. Wednesday near Ramona and Baldwin Park boulevards.
The officer had finished a traffic stop and was driving through the parking lot when he heard one gunshot and his rear window shattered, said Baldwin Park Police Lt. Mark Adams. The officer did not see the shooter and there were no eye witnesses, he added.
The shooting prompted a perimeter search involving multiple agencies and police dogs, Adams said. The search ended around 12:30 a.m.
