Police just waited out a barricaded suspect for seven hours in Panorama City and managed to bring a potentially dangeous situation to a peaceful end, authorities said Thursday.
The possibly armed man at the center of the standoff was in custody Thursday after surrendering, police said.
The standoff began a little after 5 p.m. Wednesday at an apartment complex near Columbus Avenue and Chase Street and ended right before midnight when the suspect surrendered without incident, said Sgt. K. Kahoa of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Mission Division.
No one was injured in the standoff, Kahoa said, and residents who were evacuated were allowed back into the building this morning.
It was not immediately disclosed why the man holed up in the apartment and Kahoa said the incident remains under investigation.
