Why was a man taking a deadly walk on a freeway?

The victim was struck and killed while walking in the westbound lanes of the San Bernardino (10) Freeway in Pomona, authorities said Friday.

The California Highway Patrol began receiving multiple reports of a pedestrian on the freeway near Orange Grove Avenue around 11:10 p.m. Thursday, said CHP Officer Elizabeth Kravig. Five minutes later, the CHP received more reports that the pedestrian was struck by multiple vehicles and killed, she said.

There were no reports of a hit-and-run, she said.

All lanes were blocked for the investigation but were reopened by 3:35 a.m.
