A customer was shot and killed by a gunman while inside a liquor store in South Los Angeles, a police officer said Sunday.

It wasn’t clear if the killing took place during a robbery or if some other unknown motive was behind the murder.

The victim was described by police as a 40-year-old man.

The shooting attack was just before midnight Saturday night, inside the Gourmet Liquor Store, 714 W. Gage Ave., according to Officer Mike Lopez of the LAPD’s Media Relation Section.

That location is at Gage and Hoover Street.

The shooting victim was pronounced dead at the scene, Lopez said.
