A suspect was wounded in an officer-involved shooting at a South Los Angeles gang party, authorities said Monday.

The wounded suspect was treated at a hospital and released to police custody, said Sgt. James Linder of the Los Angeles Police Department’s Southeast Station.

The shooting occurred at 10:35 p.m. Sunday at 99th and Hoover streets, Linder said.

“Officers observed a gang party and converged on it,” Linder said. “A number of people ran, officers observed several firearms. Officers were fired on and returned fire.”

One suspect was shot once in the right shoulder, he said.

“All parties were quickly detained and several firearms are in custody,” Linder said. The detained will be booked after a crime scene investigation that had Hoover Street shut down near 99th Street.
