An Arcadia-area rapist was free on bond for one attack at his home when he raped another victim at that same residence a few months later, and he’ll be sentenced for his crimes next month.
Philippe Mengi Brian Lutete, 31, is facing eight years in state prison when he’s sentenced Jan. 5 at the Alhambra courthouse, according to Ricardo Santiago of the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Lutete pleaded no contest to one count of forcible rape involving an April 8, 2015, attack, along with one count of assault with intent to commit a felony involving a separate victim on Nov. 26, 2014, according to Santiago.
Lutete was free on bond in a case arising from the November 2014 attack when he was arrested for the attack last year. Both crimes occurred at his house in unincorporated Arcadia.
The victim in the November 2014 attack was able to escape from a second-story window and to call 911 and the most recent victim managed to alert a neighbor who called sheriff’s deputies, Deputy District Attorney Rena Durrant said last year.
Sheriff’s deputies arrested Lutete on April 8, 2015, after a manhunt in the area. His no-contest plea was entered in court Monday.
