A two-alarm fire damaged a Long Beach diner but no one was injured, authorities said Saturday.

The fire was reported at 10:22 p.m. Friday at George’s 50’s Diner in the 4300 block of Atlantic Avenue and the first firefighters arrived within five minutes, according to the Long Beach Fire Department watch commander.

The fire was knocked down within 20 minutes, the watch commander said.

Investigators were requested at the scene to determine the origin of the fire, he said. Environmental health officials also were requested because the fire was at a restaurant, he added.
