A man and his dog were rescued from an island in the Los Angeles River in Glasell Park, authorities said Saturday.
The rescue took place at 11:47 p.m. Friday near 1555 N. San Fernando Road where the man was met by firefighters who reached him in an inflatable boat, said Erik Scott of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Firefighters provided the man with a personal flotation device and he was able to make his way back to shore, Scott said.
The man, though cold and wet, was not injured and declined medical services, Scott said, and was reunited with his dog.
