A motorist led California Highway Patrol officers on a 15-minute car chase Monday that began in Torrance and ended in Manhattan Beach, where the driver of the dark-colored sedan crashed.

The chase ended at 3:22 p.m. in the area of Marine Avenue and Aviation Boulevard in Manhattan Beach, according to CHP Officer Michele Bond. The chase began for the CHP in the area of 182nd Street and Prairie Avenue in Torrance.

“He was all over the place and now we’re taking him into custody,” Bond said.

With details still sketchy, she said, it was unclear which police agency had taken up the initial chase, or why the driver was initially targeted.
