There was no word from the distraught owner of two dogs who were killed in a massive apartment building fire Tuesday in the Hyde Park area of southwest Los Angeles.

Details were still sketchy as to how the dogs died in the blaze and what may have caused the conflagration.

Firefighters sent to the two-story building in the 3300 block of West 63rd Street about 12:25 p.m. extinguished the flames in about 25 minutes, the Los Angeles fire Department reported. No one was injured.

Authorities did not know the ages of the two dead animals that could have been puppies or dogs. The cause of the fire was still under investigation.
