Tree branches, debris and other storm-related damage were blamed for scattered power outages around Los Angeles and Orange counties Monday.
There were 7,700 customers Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, said DWP spokesman Michael Ventre.
There was no estimate when power would be restored, but Ventre said crews were out working on it.
Ventre noted that 7,700 is a fraction of the 1.4 million customers the LADWP serves.
Southern California Edison reported 477 Los Angeles County customers were without power and nearly 4,500 in Orange County were in the dark.
Edison said power would be restored through tonight to the affected customers, including nearly 2,200 in Irvine, about 200 in Huntington Beach and 500 in Santa Ana.
