A 50-year-old man was recovering Friday after being critically injured in an attack by at least two vicious dogs in Lincoln Heights.

There were few details available yet about the attack, and authorities speculated that only two canines were involved. The breeds of the dogs and what prompted the attack were not disclosed.

Authorities also did not provide information on the whereabouts of the dogs in the attack and if any owners of the animals may be charged, if they are located.

The attack was reported about 5:20 p.m. Thursday, according to Los Angeles police Officer Sal Ramirez.

Firefighters responded to the 2600 block of North Lincoln Park Avenue and took the man to a hospital, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The exact circumstances of the attack were not immediately available but it is believed that two dogs were involved, she said.
