A man who was fatally shot in Baldwin Park in an apparent gang-related shooting was identified Saturday by authorities.
Miguel Lizarraga, 27, of Baldwin Park, was suffering from at least one gunshot wound to the upper body when police found him on the 12900 block of Athol Street, Moody said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Officers went to the scene at 9:46 p.m. Monday in response to a report of a gunshot and a man down, said Deputy Kelvin Moody of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, whose detectives are assisting in the investigation.
Witnesses told authorities that two assailants in a blue sedan drove up to Lizarraga, exited the car and asked him about his gang affiliation. They then shot Lizarraga, re-entered the car, and fled, Moody said.
“The incident appears to be gang-related,” he said.
Anyone with information about the shooting was urged to contact the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500.
