Riverside County sheriff’s deputies Sunday asked for public help in the search for a missing 82-year-old man.
James Edward Arensdorf left his Palm Desert home about 11 a.m. Saturday to take some friends to the Palm Springs Airport, deputies said.
“His friends have been contacted and they confirmed Arensdorf left the airport in his vehicle at about 11:45 a.m.,” Sgt. Ken Black said. “It appears Mr. Arensdorf may have gotten lost after leaving Palm Springs.”
Arensdorf stopped at a convenience store about 4:20 p.m. on Saturday in Morongo Valley and asked for directions to the Interstate 10 Freeway, according to Black.
No one has seen him since.
Police described Arensdorf as a white male, 6-feet tall and weighing 180 pounds. He has gray hair, brown eyes and was last seen wearing a blue shirt and blue pants. He was driving in a white 2003 Ford Explorer with the license plate number 5PKY245.
The California Highway Patrol issued a Silver Alert, and anyone who sees Arensdorf or his vehicle was asked to call 9-1-1.
The Palm Desert Police Department encouraged anyone with information about the whereabouts of Arensdorf to call (760) 836-1600 during business hours, or a 24-hour dispatch center at (760) 836-3215.
