A man collapsed Tuesday after getting into a fight and was pronounced dead at a hospital.
Paramedics sent to the 11700 block of Normandie Avenue about 4:15 a.m. took the man to a hospital, according to the sheriff’s department. His name was withheld pending notification of his family.
Witnesses said they saw the man fighting with another man in an alley behind an apartment complex in an unincorporated part of southwest Los Angeles.
“Both men continued the altercation at the front of the location … (and) one of the men was seen on the ground with the second male standing over him,” according to a sheriff’s statement. “The second male left the location northbound on foot and out of view.”
The man who was lying on the ground stood up and went into the apartment complex, where he fell to the ground, prompting residents to call 911, according to sheriff’s officials.
No suspect description was released. Anyone with information on the case was urged to call the Sheriff’s Homicide Bureau at (323) 890-5500, or Crime Stoppers at (800) 222-TIPS.
