
A 58-year-old Pomona man was struck and killed by a Union Pacific freight train at a street crossing near downtown Pomona.
The man, identified by coroner’s officials as Daniel Torres, was hit at 1:20 p.m. Friday near the intersection of Hamilton Boulevard and First Street, according to Pomona Police.
Police were investigating whether the fatality was accidental or if Torres intended to harm himself, a sergeant said. Railroad police are assisting the investigation.
