A barricaded gun-toting woman shot by police was hospitalized Tuesday, but her condition was not disclosed.
Authorities identified the woman in the Silver Lake shooting as Shellie Cooke, 45.
She was arrested and booked on suspicion of brandishing a firearm following the incident that occurred on Monday afternoon, the Los Angeles Police Department reported. Bail was set at $100,000.
The incident began about 3:30 p.m. Monday, when officers went to the area of Sunset Boulevard and Edgecliffe Drive to investigate a report of a woman with a gun, according to Officer Mike Lopez of the LAPD’s media relations office.
The woman, later identified as Cooke, barricaded herself at the location for about two hours before she was wounded in an officer-involved shooting, police said. Details of the confrontation were not immediately available. No officers were injured.
Police said a firearm was recovered at the scene.
