
Police released a sketch Friday of a man suspected of trying to kidnap a 14-year-old girl as she walked home from school in the Pico-Robertson area.
The girl was walking about 4:40 p.m. on March 1 near the intersection of Pickford Street and Sherbourne Drive when the suspect approached her from behind and grabbed her backpack, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
“The victim fought the suspect and was able to escape,” according to a police statement.
The girl fled to her home and her parents called police.
The suspect is white, about 50 years old, 5 feet 9 inches tall, 150 pounds with gray hair.
Anyone with information that could help investigators identify him was urged to call (310) 444-1541 to speak with Detective Schlegel.
