A possible pack rat trapped in his or her Hollywood apartment was killed in a deadly blaze Sunday.
Investigators said “excessive storage conditions” may have been a factor in the two-story apartment complex fire.
The unidentified person was transported to a hospital in full cardiac arrest with smoke and burn injuries and was later pronounced dead, said Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.
No other injuries were reported.
It took firefighters 17 minutes to knock down the 12:06 a.m. blaze in the 1000 block of North Mariposa Avenue.

Damage was contained to the first floor unit where the victim was found, Stewart said.
No other details were yet available, including the gender of the victim or the type of materials that were apparently collected inside the death scene.
