A man being sought as a person of interest in the stabbing death of another man in Bakersfield might have fled to Los Angeles or Mexico, authorities said Wednesday.

Miguel Garcia of Bakersfield, 23, was fatally stabbed while at a party Saturday, according to Bakersfield and Los Angeles police.

“Investigators determined the victim … was in the company of Michael Rosales (and) it is believed that Rosales has information regarding an altercation that occurred, which led to the stabbing,” a Bakersfield police statement said.

Authorities circulated a photo of Rosales, who is 34, Hispanic, 5-feet-8 inches tall, weighs 240 pounds, and has black hair and brown eyes.

“Rosales is wanted for questioning only at this time,” Bakersfield police said.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Rosales, or of the person who killed Garcia, was urged to call Bakersfield police Detective James Jones at (661) 326-3555; Detective Chris Feola at (661) 326-3513; or the general  Bakersfield police number, (661) 327-7111.
