A vehicle plunged off a freeway in Long Beach early Saturday and burst into flames, but in something of a miracle the driver walked away unhurt.
Just after 1 a.m., the Long Beach Fire Department responded to a fire reported at the junction of the 405 and 710 freeways.
Firefighters found a single vehicle fully engulfed in flames at the bottom of the embankment. The driver was nearby and apparently unhurt.
Crews knocked down the fire in ten minutes.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the accident. There were no additional details about how the driver escaped a fire-engulfed death, if he or she was wearing a seatbelt or the cause of the crash.
