As many as seven vehicles crashed and injured numerous people on the eastbound 91 freeway near the 71 in Corona early Sunday, and traffic was jammed for miles as one side of the roadway was shut down.

According to early reports from a news videographer on scene, at numerous ambulances were on scene.
The crash occurred at approximately 3 a.m. in a stretch of the freeway undergoing major construction.
The California Highway Patrol requested a “hard closure” of the eastbound 91 while the investigation and clearing of the roadway was underway.
There was no word yet if drugs or alcohol may have contributed to the crash.
The condition of the injured was not immediately available.
