A hit-and-run street-racing crash early Saturday on Route 71 in Pomona left a man trapped inside his wrecked vehicle.

The wrecked vehicle had rolled multiple times. A passenger was able to escape, but the driver was trapped until firefighters were able to free him.

The driver was taken to a local trauma center in unknown condition.

It wasn’t clear if the extricated driver had been in the street race or was just in the vicinity when the crash took place.

The California Highway Patrol reported the crash at 1:40 a.m. near the Mission Boulevard exit. The second vehicle involved, a dark Nissan Altima, fled the scene.
