A fire broke out Friday in the attic and burned through the roof of a vacant 112-year-old home undergoing renovations in the Westlake District, but no one was injured.
The fire was reported about 3:35 p.m. in the two-story building in the 1200 block of South Alvarado Street, Brian Humphrey of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

Eighty firefighters took 39 minutes to knock down the blaze, confining it to the structure’s attic, Humphrey said.
“Though a broken natural gas line that fueled the fire was discovered in the attic, the precise cause of this non-injury fire has yet to be determined,” he said.
