One man was burned when four vehicles caught fire under a carport Friday in Pacoima but no buildings were damaged, authorities said.

The fire that burned the four vehicles inside a carport at 870 Arroyo Ave., between Glenoaks Boulevard and Borden Avenue, along the border of Pacoima and San Fernando, was reported at 1:45 p.m., Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department said.

One man suffered second-degree burns to his nose and arms and was being treated by firefighters, San Fernando police said.

His condition was unknown.

The department dispatched 30 firefighters to the scene and knocked down the flames in about 16 minutes, Bastman said.

The blaze also collapsed the carport and temporarily left a commercial building exposed to the flames but firefighters managed to keep it from burning, Bastman said.

Arson investigators were dispatched to the scene to determine the cause of the fire, Bastman said.
