Los Angeles firefighters, assisted by county fire units, needed 68 minutes to surround and knock down a slow-moving brushfire in the Tujunga/Sunland area Friday that charred about two acres of heavy brush.

The brushfire ignited near 11360 N. Althea Drive about 6:40 p.m., said Amy Bastman of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The LAFD dispatched 95 firefighters to the scene, along with water-dropping helicopters, Bastman said. County fire water-dropping helicopters were also sent to fight the blaze.

Bastman said the fire fight was slowed by the heavy brush in the area.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

LAFD firefighters remained at the scene to mop up any hotspots that might flare up.

The cause of the fire remained under investigation.
