Smoldering barbecue coals ignited flames at a Reseda condo Sunday, and firefighters needed 14 minutes to knock down the blaze, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
Seven people were forced out of the condo and were temporarily homeless.
The fire at a two-story condo at 19211 Haynes St. in Reseda was reported at 3:48 p.m., fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.

The department dispatched 43 firefighters to the scene and extinguished the fire, Humphrey said.
The flames were confined by firefighters to the kitchen and patio area of a first floor unit between the condo and a garage, Humphrey continued.
It was later determined that coals from a previous night’s barbeque were laying against a combustible fence and eventually started a fire on that fence, Humphrey said.
Neighbors pulled an elderly lady from the condominium after the fire started and before firefighters arrived, Humphrey added. The fire displaced seven people, including three adults and four children, he added. No injuries were reported.
The blaze resulted in $45,000 loss to the structure and $30,000 loss in contents, Humphrey said.
