One man was killed and a second was wounded in a car- to-car shooting in the unincorporated Westmont area.

The shooting near 99th Street and Budlong Avenue was reported at about 5:05 p.m. Tuesday, said Sgt. Vincent Plair of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

Detectives Tuesday learned that the two victims were at a stop sign at Budlong Avenue when a silver compact car pulled up alongside them, said Deputy Trina Schrader.

Someone inside the silver car opened fire, striking the driver and the rear passenger in the victim vehicle, Schrader said.

The driver, a 32-year-old black man, was pronounced dead at the scene, according to Schrader.

The 38-year-old victim in the rear passenger seat was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The third man in the vehicle was unharmed.
