A pricey Beverly Glen hillside neighborhood was awakened by a shotgun blast in the pre-dawn darkness Friday as a resident was shot and critically wounded in a home-invasion robbery that may be linked to drugs.

The crime occurred about 3:15 a.m. in the 10300 block of Summer Holly Circle, said Los Angeles police Officer Liliana Preciado. The 43-year-old resident was shot with a shotgun and taken to a hospital, she said.

A woman in the home was not injured.

Police were seeking several male suspects who may have targeted the victim because they believed he had a large amount of drugs and cash in his home, police said.

No suspect descriptions were released.

The home is in an area of residences worth about $1.5 million according to the website Zillow. While apparently single family homes, they are in a condo association. The street where the shooting took place is across Beverly Glen Boulevard and just south of a small shopping center known for its jazz dinner club, other eateries and shops and a market.

Anyone with information about the case was urged to call (877) LAPD-247.
