Police want your help to find a hit-and-run motorist involved in the death of a pedestrian in Van Nuys.

The 28-year-old man — identified by the coroner’s office as John Yonko, whose place of residence was unknown — was fatally injured at 12:05 a.m. Sunday on Sepulveda Boulevard north of Vanowen Street, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

He died at the scene, authorities said.

The victim was initially struck by a dark-colored, four-door sedan going northbound on Sepulveda Boulevard, and then was struck by a Metro bus, which remained at the scene. The car kept going.

A standing reward of up to $50,000, offered by the Los Angeles City Council, is in effect for information that helps police solve a hit-and-run case.

Anyone with information on the case was urged to call Valley Traffic Division Detective William Bustos at (818) 644-8021, or (877) LAPD-247.
