According to Riverside Police Sgt. Ben Shafer, the man was going westbound in his Ford F-150 pickup when he suddenly veered across the center median into eastbound lanes, then crashed into the Simply Inn & Suites at the intersection of Magnolia and Harrison Street.
The pickup apparently struck an office, not any of the rooms. No one in the building was injured.
The motorist was taken to Parkview Community Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
The crash remains under investigation.
