An SUV slammed into the outdoor patio of a Long Beach restaurant Thursday, injuring three patrons and the driver, who appeared to have suffered a medical emergency, police said.
The crash was reported at 3:35 p.m. in the 1900 block of East Pacific Coast Highway, according to Marlene Arrona of the Long Beach Police Department.

The restaurant, called Los Potros, was open for business.
The man driving the silver Dodge Durango was critically injured and taken to a hospital, Arrona said.
The injured patrons — a woman and two men — also were hospitalized for injuries that appear to be non-life-threatening, Arrona said.
Westbound lanes of PCH were closed between Cherry and Gardenia avenues as police investigated the crash.
