County firefighters have rescued two teens, who along with a third, crawled into an 8-inch storm drain for some unknown reason, this afternoon in Whittier.

The storm drain was located near 15300 E. Dittmar Dr., and a 911 call about the missing teens came in about 4:50 p.m., Los Angeles County Fire Department Dispatch Supervisor Art Marrujo said.

One of the three teens made it out safely on his own, Marrujo said.

County firefighters then began a search for the other two teens.

Those teens were located safely and brought out of the drain about an hour later, Marrujo said.

The pair — whose identity were being withheld — appeared uninjured, but were being evaluated by paramedics, Marrujo said.

There’s no word on the reason they crawled into the storm drain during a rainstorm.
