
Nine people were arrested Thursday in a human trafficking and prostitution sting in Pomona.
Authorities set up in the Holt Avenue corridor of Pomona, a frequent site of illegal activities including prostitution, around 4 p.m., according to Pomona police Corporal J. Martinez.
Uniformed and undercover officers from the Pomona Police Department and the Los Angeles County Probation Department took part in the operation which resulted in the arrest of nine people suspected of engaging in prostitution or loitering with the intent to commit prostitution, Martinez said.
The arrested were identified as 26-year-old Guadalupe Mendoza-Zavala of Pomona, 31-year-old Cesar Islas-Lazcano of Pomona, 30-year-old Juan Razo of Montclair, 57-year-old Danny Mosqueda of Pomona, 27-year-old Marvin Betancoperez of Montclair, 40-year-old Jose Zuniga of Ontario, 31-year-old Braulio Urbina-Guzman of Ontario, 20-year-old Hazem Shekfa of Upland, and 25- year-old Myles Barreras of Pomona.
The operation was conducted in response to numerous complaints received from residents and local business owners, Martinez said.
“The Pomona Police Department is taking a proactive approach to improving the quality of life by addressing and deterring human trafficking and prostitution activities along the Holt Ave corridor,” Martinez said.
