Firefighters Sunday hoisted a hiker having a medical emergency off of a remote trail Sunday.
The rescue happened at 12:39 p.m. a mile up the Canyon View Loop Trail above Whitewater, about 10 miles northwest of Palm Springs, said April Newman of the Riverside County Fire Department.
The hiker was hoisted off the trail by a sheriff’s helicopter, transported to an awaiting ambulance and hospitalized with moderate injuries, she said.
