A motorist was killed near downtown Corona Friday when he apparently lost control of his vehicle and crashed into an apartment complex.
The fatality occurred shortly after 6 p.m. at the Corona Village Apartments in the 900 block of Smith Avenue, near Lincoln Avenue, according to the Corona Fire Department.

The victim, whose name was not immediately released, was killed on impact, according to reports from the scene. Firefighters spent about 15 minutes freeing the man’s remains from the wreckage.
No other vehicles were involved, and no one at the apartment complex was injured or displaced.
The cause of the crash was under investigation.
