Police Monday sought the public’s help in locating a 13- year-old girl who went missing in Van Nuys and may be with a 25-year-old man.

Jessica Beltran was last seen about 1:30 p.m. Sunday in the 14200 block of Sylvan Street. Later that day, she left her home and didn’t return, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

“Jessica has been in contact with a male, approximately 25 years old, from the San Diego area,” according to an LAPD statement. “Detectives believe Jessica may be with that male.”

The teen is described as Hispanic, 5 feet 4 inches tall and about 170 pounds, with brown hair. She was wearing a blue shirt, black pants and blue Converse shoes when last seen.

“I don’t know how they met, but it sounds like she’s probably met him in person” prior to Sunday, said Van Nuys Station Detective Darrell Vanroy.

Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts was urged to call (818) 374-0040 during regular business hours to speak with Vanroy. After-hours or weekend calls should be directed to (877) LAPD-24-7. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling (800) 222-TIPS.
