An Uber driver who allegedly sexually assaulted a UC Riverside student pleaded not guilty Friday to felony charges.
Jamaal Andrew Lee, 41, of Moreno Valley was arrested last month following an investigation by the UCR Police Department.
Lee is charged with assault with the intent to commit rape, forced oral copulation and false imprisonment.
Lee was arraigned before Riverside County Superior Court Judge Helios Hernandez, who scheduled a felony settlement conference for June 29 at the Riverside Hall of Justice. Lee is free on a $55,000 bond.
The alleged assault occurred in the predawn hours of May 14.
According to police, Lee responded to a ride request via Uber at an unspecified location in Riverside. Lee retrieved the female student, whose name was not released, and drove her to an apartment complex at 1020 Linden St., on the north edge of campus, where he allegedly assaulted her, police said.
After the woman was able to get away, she called 911.
Lee was not identified until almost a week later, when a warrant was issued for his arrest, records showed. He posted bail immediately after being taken into custody.
Lee has no documented prior felony convictions.
