A motorcyclist killed in a collision with a car in Azusa was identified Wednesday as a 46-year-old Glendora man.

The crash occurred about 6:15 a.m. Sunday on San Gabriel Canyon Road, the California Highway Patrol reported. Jonathan Shoemaker died at a hospital, said coroner’s Assistant Chief Ed Winter.

According to the CHP, a 40-year-old Montebello man driving a 2000 Honda Civic was heading south on San Gabriel Canyon Road and Shoemaker was riding 2005 Ducati motorcycle north on the road.  That’s when the Honda driver made a left turn into a parking lot of a business, and the motorcycle crashed into the side of the car, the CHP reported. The Honda driver was not injured.

Drugs or alcohol were not a factor in the crash, according to CHP investigators.
