Authorities Saturday hunted the killer a 29-year-old driver who was shot to death and crashed his vehicle into the garage of a house in La Mirada.

The deadly gunfire came from a passing vehicle, blasting the victim as he drove down a residential street.

The shooting occurred at 8 p.m. Friday in the 14100 block of Mansa Drive where responding deputies found the victim in a vehicle suffering from an apparent gunshot wound to his upper body, said Deputy Trina Schrader of the Sheriff’s Information Bureau.

The man’s vehicle had crashed into the attached garage of a residence.

Homicide investigators believe the victim was driving north on Parise Drive, turning onto Mansa Drive, while the suspect’s vehicle turned south on Parise Drive from Mansa Drive.

As the two vehicles were passing each other, gunshots were fired from the suspect’s vehicle into the victim’s vehicle, Schrader said.

The suspect fled in a light colored vehicle, south on Parise Drive, to west on Lymark Street, and out of view, Schrader said.

It wasn’t immediately clear how many occupants were in the suspect’s vehicle and a description of the shooter was not available.

Following the shooting, the victim’s vehicle traveled a few houses east on Mansa Drive, and crashed into the garage.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead, Schrader said.

He was the sole occupant of the vehicle and no one was injured in the crash.
