A man was shot in the shoulder in South Los Angeles by an attacker who walked up and fired several rounds at the victim at close range, authorities said Sunday.
A motive for the shooting was a mystery to police, and an officer said the attack may not have been gang related.
It happened about 10:30 p.m. Saturday at 55th and Hoover streets, Sgt. Thomas Bojorquez of the Los Angeles Police Department’s 77th Street Station said.
The victim is about 40 years old and the suspect appeared to be in his late 30s, Bojorquez said.
The suspect fled the scene after the shooting, he said.
The victim was taken to a hospital with stable vital signs.
A motive has not been determined.
“We are unable to link this shooting to gang activity in the area,” Bojorquez said.
