A man was seriously hurt when he was struck by a vehicle in the early morning darkness Thursday while walking across the southbound lanes of the Hollywood (101) Freeway in Hollywood, authorities said.
Authorities did not speculate about why the pedestrian was on foot on a freeway.
The crash was reported around 1:45 a.m. when the pedestrian, for an unknown reason, was walking west across the southbound lanes, just south of Hollywood Boulevard, and was struck by the vehicle in lane no. 3, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The driver of the vehicle, identified as 34-year-old Jonathan Dulay of Chino Hills, stopped his vehicle after he felt an impact to the front of the car, the CHP said.
The pedestrian sustained major injuries and was taken to USC County Hospital, the CHP reported. Dulay was unharmed in the crash.
