A 31-year-old man and a 15-year-old boy were “cut up pretty bad” in a San Gabriel Valley box-cutter slashing, but a suspect was nabbed by law enforcement. authorities said Friday.

The motive for the attack was a mystery as authorities tried to figure out what happened.

The slashing was reported at 9:18 p.m. Thursday near San Angelo Park in the small community of Bassett south of Baldwin Park, said Sgt. G. Enriquez of the sheriff’s Industry Station.

The suspect used a box cutter to attack the man and boy, Enriquez said.

The relationship between the victims was not immediately clear.

The victims were taken to a hospital for treatment. Enriquez said the victims were “cut up pretty bad” but their injuries were not life- threatening.

The suspect was arrested shortly after the attack. It wasn’t immediately clear if the man knew the victims. A motive was not available.
