Los Angeles city firefighters aided by a lack of wind doused a small, slow-burning fire that torched about two acres of brush Sunday evening in Lincoln Heights.

Flames near the 4000 block of North Mission Road were reported around 7:05 p.m., fire department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart said.

The LAFD dispatched 64 firefighters and three water-dropping helicopters, to extinguish the blaze in about 49 minutes, Stewart said.

Firefighters remained on the scene to put out hot spots, Stewart said.

No injuries were reported and no structures were threatened.
