
Firefighters quickly knocked down a brushfire Tuesday evening that temporarily shut down the transition road from the Ronald Reagan (118) Freeway to the Golden State (5) Freeway in Pacoima, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
The fire near the transition from the eastbound 118 Freeway to the southbound 5 Freeway was reported at 7:10 p.m., fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
The California Highway Patrol shut down the transition road and declared a SigAlert at 7:20 p.m. The CHP also closed the Sepulveda Boulevard onramp and extended the SigAlert.
Firefighters knocked down the fire in about 23 minutes, Humphrey said,.
No injuries were reported, he said.
Despite the knockdown the CHP reported that it has reopened only one lane on the transition road and will likely keep the other lanes shut down till after 9 p.m.
