Authorities Thursday hoped their raid and arrests of seven people in a crackdown on Pomona prostitution will reduce hooker activity along a popular corridor for human trafficking.
The law enforcement operation was along a stretch of Holt Avenue known as the “Holt Corridor,” said Cpl. J. Martinez of the Pomona Police Department.
“It is nationally known as a track/blade where individuals can negotiate sexual acts in exchange for currency,” Martinez said.
“The goal of the operation was to target prostitution related crimes and focus attention on the entire Holt Corridor with a priority placed on recovering juveniles, arresting prostitutes and arresting johns.”
Those who were arrested in the Wednesday afternoon operation are:
– Jennifer Perez, 20, of Adelanto;
– Ernesto Rojas-Baltazar, 31, of Pomona;
– Jessica Ashley, 28, of Pomona;
– Angel Aguayo, 34, of Baldwin Park;
– Veronica Ramirez, 33, of Pomona;
– Arturo Martinez, 73, of Ontario; and
– Sarah Miles, 27, of Sacramento.
All the suspects were arrested on suspicion of solicitation with the intent to commit prostitution, Martinez said.
No further details were available.
