A 15-year-old boy in the back seat of a vehicle was shot in his right arm Monday afternoon in South Los Angeles, police said.

The shooting occurred about 3:45 p.m. in the 7500 block of South Western Avenue, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.

The teenager was taken to a hospital and was expected to survive, according to Sgt. Michael Pounds of the LAPD’s 77th Street Station.

Two suspects, one of them male, left the scene in a black Kia, police said.

It was not immediately clear if the shooting was gang-related, Pounds said.
