
A 26-year-old motorcyclist was critically injured Saturday when his speeding bike rear ended a vehicle on the Hollywood (101) Freeway, near the Pilgrimage Bridge in Cahuenga Pass.
The crash was on the northbound freeway at about 12:50 a.m., the California Highway Patrol reported.
The motorcyclist, riding a 2016 Honda CBR, rear ended a 2010 Ford Escape and was thrown from the motorcycle onto the roadway. The bike slid into the number five lane of traffic, where it was struck by a large truck.
The motorcyclist was publicly identified a resident of Newport Beach. He suffered severe head injuries and was rushed to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in critical condition.
