A convicted felon accused of molesting a boy whom he was teaching how to play the guitar was being held in lieu of $430,000 bail.
Nathaniel Elizar Hernandez, 27, was arrested and booked into the Robert Presley Detention Center in Riverside Thursday. He’s charged with five counts of lewd acts on a minor under 14 years old and one count of sodomy of a child.
According to police, the investigation began on July 6 after a complaint was received regarding the alleged offenses. The victim’s name was not released.
Officer Ryan Railsback said detectives from the police department’s Sexual Assault Child Abuse Unit handled the investigation, culminating in the Riverside County District Attorney’s Office filing charges.
No details about the encounters between Hernandez and child were disclosed.
“He was a guitar instructor at a music business in Riverside and taught several people, including children,” Railsback said. “It is believed there could be other victims who have not come forward.”
Anyone with information was asked to contact Detective Charlie Olivas at (951) 353-7136.
Hernandez is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon at the Riverside Hall of Justice.
According to court records, he has a prior conviction for burglary and was sentenced to probation in 2008.
