The Los Angeles Police Department has been on a city-wide tactical alert for more than 24 hours because of a computer outage at the department’s main dispatcher center in downtown Los Angeles, a police officer said Saturday.

All 911 calls are being dispatched through the LAPD’s Valley Dispatch Center, said Officer Mike Lopez of the LAPD’s Media Relations Section.

The outage began shortly after 11 a.m. Friday, Lopez said, and response times are not being affected by the outage.

It was not immediately known what caused the outage or when repairs would be made, he said.
